STOKE BOWLS 

The Stoke Bowling Club was founded in 1949 and has become a valuable recreational, social and sporting organisation in Nelson. Our Club is situated at 18A Ranui Road, Stoke and is at the back of Stoke Primary School, Main Road, Stoke. The Club has in excess of 100 members however is always looking for new members of all ages to join its ranks. This can be as a Full, Limited, or a Social member.

We have 2 natural greens which are considered to be the best in Nelson. The Club is a member of Clubs New Zealand with our members enjoying visiting privileges to approximately 300 clubs across the country. The Club has excellent facilities which are available for hire for corporate and private functions and this can include playing bowls. 2024 means that the Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary and a number of activities are planned to be held over Labour Weekend in 2024.

If you would like to try your hand at the game of bowls come along during the season (there is usually somebody around the Club most days) or call us on +64 3 5477440. You can be sure to receive a warm welcome. Friday Mufti is played most Fridays and is a good way to learn to play bowls in a relaxed atmosphere. have your name in by 12.45pm for a 1.00pm start. There is a small charge for participation. After you have participated in the Friday Mufti why not stay on at the Club.

There are a number of activities held on a Friday night including a Cash Jackpot Draw (you have to be a member and present at the draw to collect the spoils), Corner to Corner, nibbles to eat and other activities from time to time. It is also a great way to meet Club members.

HELP FOR NELSON & TAHNUNANUI CLUBS

Both the Nelson Club and the Tahunanui Club need help with removing soil from their greens after the planing of their greens.  It will involve putting light soil in wheelbarrows and moving it to a place on site, but off the green.   Just any hours you may be available would be a great help.

Tahuna Club will be removing their soil on Monday 27 May (Contact Wayne – 027 232 0225 or Brendon – 022 529 0308)

Nelson Club will be removing their soil on Tuesday 28 May (Contact Chris – 028 403 7801 or Steve - 027 436 9493)

 

PINK RIBBON POT LUCK LUNCH

A Pink Ribbon pot luck lunch has been organised for the 26th May at 12.00. Please the flyer posted in Newsletters for further information and contact numbers etc.

 

CARDS

Cards will commence at the Club on Tuesday 7 May - doors open at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.  $4 entry fee which includes afternoon tea plus 50cent raffle.
